Our last month of the 2020/21 School YearWell here we are at the end of another school year - a year with its share of challenges and safety regulations we have all had to work with. Hopefully it has been a good year for everyone here at Discovery!
All student library materials are due back by next Friday, June 11th, unless special permission has been arranged with Mrs. Brockhurst. An overdue list will be printed off early the following week and given to teachers for the first follow-up on overdue books. Rewards for book bags will be coming to students before the end of the year, and we will have a celebration for the Library Monitor teams who have so generously given their lunch break times to help Mrs. Brockhurst with all the shelving! The Red Cedar readers had their voting day in the library in the middle of May. The winners were announced online last week and are as follows: Non-Fiction Book Award Winner: It Began with a Page, by Kyo Maclear Fiction Award Winner: The Unteachables by Gordon Korman. CONGRATULATIONS again to all the Red Cedar readers! We had our own announcement celebration in the Library earlier this month. Make sure you check out the Summer Reading Club with the Vancouver Island Regional Library, online at www.virl.bc.ca/sr, to keep your students' reading skills active over the summer break! Enjoy the holiday and I look forward to seeing you all back in the library next September!
