Well, we've made it to the end of the most unexpected school year ever! This will be my last update for the Discovery LLC website until next September.
On the Literacy Links pages: The Grade6/7 will find a rap-style version of Dr. Seuss' Oh the Places You'll Go. The Grade 4/5s will find a very entertaining story read by Chris O'Dowd about a doughnut who doesn't want to be eaten, Arnie the Doughnut. The Grade 2/3s will find an animated award-winning story by William Steig: Sylvester and the Magic Pebble. The Grade K/1s will find The Very Quiet Cricket, written and illustrated by Eric Carle. There is one more Chess Puzzle of the Week for you to challenge yourselves with and the Red Cedar voting has now been tallied! On the Red Cedar page, you will find links to 2 videos revealing this year's winners for both Fiction and Information book categories! The Grade Sevens have had their graduation day celebrations as have the Kindergarten children. Change is never easy, and we will miss all the students who are leaving Discovery, but we wish everyone well in their next school year, wherever it may be! On a final note: The Discovery House points have been tallied and in ascending order we have: Falcons in 4th place, Ravens in 3rd place, Hawks in 2nd place, and winning this year... Owls in 1st place! Congratulations!! Have a wonderful summer, and keep reading!
